WILLEMETTE VILLAGE NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION

MONTHLY MEETING MINUTES

 

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 9, 2000

6:30 P.M.

 

Doris brought meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. and introduced the guest speaker, John Parkhurst from the Prosecutor’s Office.  Members of the association discussed the following issues with Mr. Parkhurst:

 

ü     Speeding on Keck and Hercules

ü     School zone

ü     Proof, videotape, and eyewitnesses

ü     Firearm possession

ü     School zone and guns

ü     Prosecution of situation regarding swerving at a child in the neighborhood

ü     Drug Activity (Michael Perry – Drug Prosecutor)

ü     Neighborhood radar

ü     Search warrants

 

Doris took the floor and the following items were discussed:

 

ü     Volunteer lists

ü     New visitors

ü     Signs – no flyers

 

A church representative told the group about an educational service that the church will be offering during our monthly neighborhood meetings.  This will be a story/craft time for school age children.

         

 

 

 

 

 

 

Officer Matthews gave crime report and discussed the following:

 

ü     Speeding/radar/amount over speed limit before a ticket is issued

ü     Speed limit reduction

ü     Brush covering signs/sign height

ü     Thefts from inside cars

 

Dana and Tommy Hall mentioned a situation that they had with a man trying to enter their home.

          Details:     White unmarked van with white rear windows

Claims was called for furnace repair – very persistent

                             Dark hair – 30’s

 

Doris took the floor and thanked the by-law committee.  She suggested that the next meeting be a social hour with minutes.  Everyone was encouraged to bring goodies. 

 

Doris motioned that the by-laws and annual dues be approved.  Leonard and Chris seconded and the motion was passed.

 

Vicky gave report for the Neighborhood Beautification Committee:

 

ü     Bushes got trimmed

ü     Resigned from position

 

A final note was mentioned that dues will be due in January.

 

Greg motioned to adjourn the meeting and Doris seconded.  Doris adjourned the meeting at 8:12 p.m.
