Karla brought meeting to order at 6:35 p.m.

 

Crime report:

·        Vehicle Thefts – Unlocked & Unrelated

·        Criminal Mischief

 

“Problem car” patrolling the neighborhood – provided by grant.

 

Next month – Ice Cream Social

Soccer field discussion ensued.

Individual Comments:

 

          Greg Stillwell:             Sell other soccer fields?

          Response:                            Leave existing – one-step more.

 

Steve Davis:               Cemetery growth/sanctity?

Response:                  Okay for 28.8 years (Avg. 327 burials/yr.)  Buffer zone – burms, retention ponds, trees.  No PA system.

 

Tom Dwyer:                Questioned the figure from Mr. Downs (5 yrs.)

Response:                  Bogus

 

Joe Wahle:                  Questioned Morgan Avenue traffic issue, noise, and sewer.

Robin Mendez:           Traffic issues regarding intersection of Morgan and Weinbach.

Response:                  There are a variety of options of entry.

 

Cathy Redman:          Questioned the light at Weinbach and home maintenance from the construction.

 

Joe Schmidt:              Why this location?

 

Greg Stillwell:             Cemetery plot sales near field will slow.  If nothing else – NO ENTRANCE ON MORGAN AVENUE.

 

Steve Davis:               Questioned safety issues along the state highway – Morgan Avenue.

 

Mindy Cosby:             Questioned the availability of activities of property – parking – security?

 

Sandra Daniels:         $1 million over two years from riverboat revenue – Why not use that money to repair the drainage problems and cemetery roads?

 

Joe Wahle:                  Property value – controlled commodity a plus.

 

Robin Mendez:           Money spent on which projects?  If the park goes belly up, will the city keep it up?

Response:                  Yes.

 

Midge:                          Police patrol.

 

Deborah Marchand: Questioned if the park will affect the historical endorsement for the cemetery.

 

David Cosby:             Questioned a variety issues, including the integrity of the group.

 

Robert Miller:             Questioned cemetery plots, exits/convenience, covenants – will city sign off?

 

Robin Stuard:             Questioned the time frame, done deal, availability for other children to use.

Response:                  The time frame is one year and the deal is still on the table.  Everyone would benefit from the field.

 

There were some people in attendance who were in favor of the project.

 

June 25th is the next open City Council meeting.  It will be at 5:45 p.m. in Room 301 of the Civic Center building.

 

The next meeting of the Willemette Village Neighborhood Association will be held on Thursday, July 12th.
